LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 107-101 on Thursday night at Staples Center that allowed head coach Doc Rivers to capture his 900th career win. This comes after he and the organization were fined $50,000 for his Kawhi Leonard load management comments on Wednesday regarding playing status.
Rivers was given the game ball by Patrick Beverley and was doused by Montrezl Harrell after the game.
“The players are the most important,” Rivers explained. “They make you better. Those plays you run at the end, that’s the players making those shots. It’s all them. It’s really a team effort.”
Rivers needs 39 wins to surpass the great Red Auerbach for 11th and 45 wins to past Bill Fitch for 10th on the All-Time list.
With the pace that Rivers is on with his extraordinary Clippers team, he’ll get over 1,000 wins before he retires from the sidelines.
