LOS ANGELES, CA – For a moment, the Los Angeles Sparks (7-11) looked like they were going to pull out an upset against the Las Vegas Aces (14-4). As the Sparks played at Crypto.com Arena in front of a thinning crowd, winning two games in a row and besting the Aces could have served as the bait the Sparks needed to lure fans back in.

Perhaps fans with short attention spans haven’t realized the truth of this season yet. No matter how you spin it, the Sparks are in a rebuild. This season will serve as a beta test to see what pieces fit and what pieces create hype, but not necessarily productivity. That alone is a process worth watching.

The Sparks have a lot of young players who are trying to carve out their spots on the team and in the league. One player who is making her name known is rookie forward Olivia Nelson-Ododa. Learn more about her in this Nitecast Media exclusive interview.
