LOS ANGELES, CA – After inking a new deal with Capitol Records earlier this week, legendary singer-songwriter and producer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmunds announced the upcoming release of his new forthcoming album and first project under his new label, “Girls’ Night Out.”

The album which was co-produced by Babyface and Rika Tischendorf is set to include features and contributions from several prominent female R&B artists including Ella Mai, Kehlani, Ari Lennox, Queen Naija, Doechii and more.

“I am extremely honored and humbled to be signing to a legacy label like Capitol. They have welcomed me with open arms and treat me like family. And, in the end, that is what it’s all about – doing what you love with people who have the same love for music as you do,” Babyface said in a statement. “I am very excited about the upcoming album and everyone on it. The process for it reminded me of when I did ‘Waiting to Exhale’ and I’m excited for the world to hear.”

The first single, “Keeps on Fallin,’” featuring Ella Mai, was released on Friday, June 17. The two performed the song for the first time days later at the 2022 BET Awards on Sunday night.

“Girls’ Night Out” marks Babyface’s first album in seven years. His last album, 2015’s “Return of the Tender Lover,” spawned R&B hits such as “I Want You” featuring After 7 and “Exceptional.”

After breaking onto the mainstream music scene as a member of the R&B group The Deele, Babyface and his fellow bandmate turned producing partner, L.A. Reid, went on to co-found LaFace Records – the label that artists including TLC, Toni Braxton and Usher once called home – in 1989.

In addition to finding success as a solo artist, he has also produced and written songs for dozens of artists including: Toni Braxton, Bobby Brown, Johnny Gill, The Whispers, Boyz II Men, After 7, TLC, Jon B, Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan, Janet Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Tevin Campbell, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Patti Labelle, Brandy, Céline Dion, En Vogue, Bruno Mars and others.

With 11 albums, 12 Grammys and over 40 years in the music industry under his belt, making R&B magic is nothing new to Babyface.

“Girls’ Night Out” is expected to be released on Saturday, Oct. 29.
