Black Business Association (BBA) Honors And Recognizes L.A. Mayor Karen Bass, Gina Prince-Bythewood, And More

LOS ANGELES, CA — The Black Business Association (BBA) will host its 20th annual event highlighting many Black women at the 2023 Salute to Black Women Business Conference, Vendor Faire & Awards Luncheon in recognition of the National Women’s History Month emphasizing the 2023 theme, “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories.”

Karen Bass is the not only the 43rd mayor of Los Angeles, but the city’s first Black woman mayor and only the second Black mayor in the city’s history behind former mayor Tom Bradley. Director and producer Gina Prince-Bythewood has directed some amazing films including Love and Basketball, The Secret Life Of Bees, and most recently the film The Woman King starring Oscar, Tony, Emmy and Grammy award winning actress Viola Davis.

Other notables to be honored are Councilwoman Heather Hutt (10th District of Los Angeles), L.A. Sentinel Assistant Managing Editor and author Devyn Bakewell, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (California 37th District), retired NBC4 News reporter Beverly White, retired radio personality Pat Prescott, California Black Media Director Regina Brown Wilson, and Cynthia E. Exum.

The event is scheduled for March 25 at the Hyatt Regency LAX and is sponsored by Southern California Edison (SCE), US Bank, Northrop Grumman, Los Angeles Sentinel, SoCalGas, Season of Greatness, Forgiving For Living, Suite Life SoCal, Metropolitan Water District, ADP, and ABC7.
