BUFFALO, NY — Buffallo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was awarded the cover of the Madden 2024 video game cover as it was announced on Wednesday morning. Allen is the Bills franchise’s first cover athlete to make the cover of the legendary video game.
“As a fan of Madden NFL since childhood, I’m honored to be the first Buffalo Bills player on the cover, and I wouldn’t have gotten here without the support of my team and Bills Mafia,” Allen told the media.
Electronic Arts (EA) also announced that Superstar Mode and Mini-Games will return to the video game this year, along with catches to be contested in order for players to better defend wide receivers. Scoop tackling will also be available, and enhanced hit-stick animations are being introduced as well. Allen is just the 10th quarterback in NFL history to grace the cover.
Previous NFL players have included Super Bowl champions Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs) and recently retired quarterback Tom Brady (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) on Madden ’22. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson graced the cover for Madden ’21 and Mahomes was on it for Madden ’20.
“I think learning the game at a young age and using Madden as that platform to understand the rules and the ins and outs of football,” Allen said.
Allen finished second in the NFL with 46 total touchdown passes and has solidified himself as a legitimate top-10 quarterback, finishing third in the 2023 season MVP race.
“A childhood dream come true,” Allen posted on his social media page.
