LOS ANGELES — After news broke about Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley suffered a knee injury on Sunday night against the Philadelphia Eagles, the team needed some help at the position.

On Wednesday the team announced they signed former Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers running back CJ Anderson.

In 2018, Anderson played in nine games and racked up 24 carries for 104 yards. He spent five previous seasons where signed with the team as an undrafted free agent back in 2013.

I’ve been in this league long enough, and been around a bunch of offenses long enough, where it won’t take long to get acclimated,” Anderson told the L.A. Times.

Rams head caoch Sean McVay looks to implement Anderson in his offense as soon as this week when the team faces the Cardinals in Arizona.

You can see him playing a role as early as this week,” McVay said. “Really impressed just being around him in the initial 24 hours, or whatever it’s been.”

Whatever they need me to do,” Anderson said. “I know I’m going to do everything that I possibly can this week to be ready to play. McVay and teammates and everybody can feel comfortable with me out there if that opportunity presents itself.”

With the uncertainty of how much Gurley will be available this Sunday, Anderson provides a level of experience and some relief in the back field that gives Los Angeles an opportunity to get back on the winning track.
