KANSAS CITY — Superstar Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes made another solid investment in becoming an owner in the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday.
Mahomes is the son of former Major League baseball pitcher Pat Mahomes, and as a kid hung around clubhouses and continued to follow the game of baseball.
“I’m honored to become a part-owner of the Kansas City Royals. I love this city and the people of this great town. This opportunity allows me to deepen my roots in this community, which is something I’m excited to do,” Mahomes said in a statement.
A great move by Mahomes and the Royals since he’ll be apart of the city for the next decade at least.
“We are very proud and excited to have Patrick as our partner in the ownership group of this franchise,” John Sherman, the Royals’ chairman, CEO and principal owner said in a statement. “Along with the rest of Kansas City, I have watched Patrick compete and become an extraordinary leader, both on and off the football field.
“Consistent with the entirety of our ownership group, he has a deep commitment to Kansas City and a real passion for the game of baseball — dating back to his childhood.”
Mahomes recently signed a record breaking 10-year deal worth up to $503 million with the Super Bowl champion Chiefs.
