ATLANTA, GA – The Sparks look to extend their road win streak to 3-0 as they head into Atlanta to face the Dream on Wednesday evening. The WNBA will keep recognizing the continued absence of one of the league’s most prominent stars, Brittney Griner, with her initials and jersey number represented on the sidelines.
Chiney Ogwumike, who’s evolved into a prominent TV personality at ESPN, says she’s disappointed with the lack of attention Griner’s detainment has received from the media.
“The most important thing is just letting her representatives lead,” Ogwumike said. “We all miss BG dearly.”
She feels her representatives and government agencies can handle things better, if the media continues stay silent on this very serious issue.
Ogwumike also says as a media personality, she does not go easy on herself. Whether it’s while she is on-air or on the court, she addresses the mistakes immediately. However, when she sees something that is going right, she’s quick to give her teammates the praise.
“It’s never just an individual thing. Whether it’s on the court or off the court, it takes a lot of pieces to make great things happen,” Ogwumike said. “So, I just like to show love to everyone that has helped.”
The Sparks face the Dream on Wednesday at 4 p.m. PST.
