LOS ANGELES — Clippers forward and NBA Champion Kawhi Leonard made a major impact upon the students of Southern California by partnering with the Los Angeles Clippers and Baby 2 Baby organization to give away backpacks for students. Earlier on Tuesday morning, Leonard gave away approximately 35,000 backpacks to Moreno valley students. He later arrived at 107th Street Elementary School in Los Angeles where it was announced by President of Business Operations Gillian Zucker that Leonard is dedicated to making sure that kids in the LAUSD (Los Angeles Unified School District) and IUSD (Inglewood Unified School District) will receive backpacks. That equates to over 1,000,000 students.

My goal this year is to make a meaningful contribution both on and off the court. This felt like the right way to get started. It was important to me to make this announcement in my hometown of Moreno Valley at my former Elementary School, but the benefits this program will have across all of Los Angeles makes today even more special,” said Leonard.

Leonard was joined by Baby2Baby, Co-Presidents Kelly Sawyer Patricof and Norah Weinstein (non-profit organization that provides children living in poverty, ages 0-12 years, with diapers, clothing). Nicole Richie, Zooey Deschanel, and Busy Philipps were also in attendance for this event.
