LOS ANGELES — Finally back from the All-Star break, the Los Angeles Clippers and head coach Doc Rivers can now turn their attention to the final stretch of the regular season. As they prepare for a run in the playoffs, with 23 games remaining in the season, the Clippers have their work cut out for them. It won’t be an easy road for this team with 14 out of their 23 games against Western Conference opponents, Rivers has one goal in mind, “we just have to win.

Rookie point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander understands where his teammates like the ball on offense after having conversations with them. Gilgeous-Alexander also credited the Clippers front office for bringing in guys (via trade) who “have the same identity.”

Newcomer Ivica Zubac has proven he can be an effective rebounder and rim protector in Rivers’ system. Danilo Gallinari remains healthy and could be a key factor down the stretch, along with the powerful defensive technique of Patrick Beverley, energy of Montrezl Harrell, and the shooting touch of Lou Williams, the Clippers have all the fuel necessary to be successful. Despite the current standing, this team remains in one-game at time mentality.

The Clippers are just one game ahead of the Sacramento Kings and 2.5 games ahead of their hallway neighbor Los Angeles Lakers. With a small measure for error in the West, every game is crucial for this team moving forward. If they happen to make the playoffs and hold on to the eighth seed, then a date with the NBA champion Golden State Warriors awaits.

The Clippers face the Grizzlies in Memphis on Friday and the Nuggets in Denver on Sunday afternoon.
