Bindi Irwin, who is the daughter of “The Crocodile Hunter” star Steve Irwin, welcomed her first child with her husband Chandler Powell on Thursday, March 25.
Irwin and Powell, who also celebrated their first wedding anniversary, announced the news via Twitter and Instagram.
“Celebrating the two loves of my life. Happy first wedding anniversary to my sweetheart husband and day of birth to our beautiful daughter,” Irwin wrote in a statement via Twitter.
The new parents named their daughter Grace Warrior Irwin Powell and Irwin revealed that their daughter’s middle names “Warrior Irwin” were a tribute to her late father.
Steve Irwin died in 2006 after being stung in the chest by a stingray while filming content for a documentary in the Great Barrier Reef.
In 2002, Steve launched the non-profit wildlife conservation organization “Wildlife Warriors,” which was originally called the “Steve Irwin Conservation Foundation.”
Although Irwin was well known for his popular show “The Crocodile Hunter,” he and his wife Terri were also co-owners of Australia Zoo which is located in Queensland.
Bindi first announced her pregnancy via Instagram in August 2020, just five months after she and Powell married in a small, yet intimate ceremony which was documented on their show, “Crikey! It’s the Irwins.”
In July 2019, Irwin and Powell became engaged after having first met at Australia Zoo when the two were teenagers in 2013.
Her brother, Robert, who also walked her down the aisle on her wedding day, documented his first time meeting his niece on Instagram.
“Let the uncle adventures begin! Love you so much, Grace,” Irwin wrote.
In addition to working at Australia Zoo alongside her mother, brother and husband, Bindi was also a contestant on season 21 of “Dancing with the Stars” where she won with her partner Derek Hough.
