ANAHEIM, CA — The happiest place on earth has been transformed into the merriest place on earth as park enthusiasts will be transported to Wakanda Forever at the Disneyland and Disney California Adventure parks. The holiday season started November 11 and will conclude on January 8, 2023.
One destination that everyone should check out and be fully engulfed in at Disney’s California Adventure is the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever garden. It’s a beautiful rendition of Wakanda allowing guest to vibe and soak up all of the elements of the film. The area truly comes alive at night as cast member dressed as Shuri better known as the new Black Panther from the latest film, comes and pays homage to the legend of her brother, King T’Challa. Guest can also have the opportunity to sample many food and drink items from the Wakanda Forever area.
Merchandise from the film can also be purchased at the park that include t-shirts, sweatshirts, and other memorabilia.
With Shuri made available for guest to see, it was only appropriate for the resort to have M’Baku arrive at the Avengers Campus at California Adventure.
“As you know, with the character, we can only go so far,” Paul Bryant said. “But here in the theme park, we kept this character true to who he is. But then we add what I like to call Disney magic, you know that moment where we can actually engage our guests with the moment while staying pertinent to who the character is. So, we played with it a lot so he can have fun and the guests watching can also have fun but maintaining the trueness and the honesty about the character.
“The M’Baku moment that we’ve created at the Avengers campus was a lot of fun because we basically took what is in the movie, from the characters in the movie and we wanted to make the moment here at the resort something that was very interactive with the guests, but yet remaining true to the character himself and what he’s all about, which is about family and being part of a unit and you know, having that warrior exterior.”
The freedom of creativity is amazing yet the theme park keep in line with the ideas and storylines of Wakanda Forever film, especially showcasing “The Warriors Of Wakanda’ show that was brought to life by Michael Serna, Executive Creative Director at Disney Live Entertainment.
“That was actually my favorite project that I’ve ever worked on,” Serna said. “We’ve been working on the Avengers campus for a long time before Black Panther came out, and I saw Black Panther-the first film-and I was so really enamored with the Dora Milaje and the power of these women. My mom was a huge impact my life. I have two sisters. So, I love women stories. I love the power of women and their importance in our lives.”
While visiting both parks guest have an opportunity to celebrate the holiday season equipped with a huge Christmas tree that greets you at the beginning of Main Street USA at Disneyland, to the various parades at California Adventure. Guest can also purchase special holiday merchandise.
