ANAHEIM, CA — In honor of Black Music Month this June, Disneyland Resort is rolling out an array of special events and culinary delights to celebrate the rich, diverse history of Black music. From live performances and educational exhibits to themed menus, the resort offers guests a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the soulful rhythms and cultural significance of Black musical traditions across both Disney California parks that include Disneyland, Disney’s California Adventure and Downtown Disney District.
Throughout June, visitors can explore the profound influence of Black artists and genres across various locations within Disneyland Resort. One of the highlights is the Main Street, U.S.A. Window Display, which spotlights the early 20th-century Black banjo masters, emphasizing the instrument’s African origins and its cultural significance. This installation complements the ongoing “Celebrate the Magic: New Sounds for a New Century” exhibit, which delves into the overlooked legacy of Black banjo players and reflects the broader Black roots rediscovery movement.
Guests can enjoy daily performances at the Paradise Garden Bandstand at Disney California Adventure Park, featuring soulful melodies and uplifting rhythms that span the tapestry of Black music’s fundamental genres. Acoustic sets include jazz, R&B, blues, and reggae, performed by talented artists such as the CFLC All-Star Brass Band, Got Rhythm!, CFLC Zydeco Quartet, and more. Showtimes are scheduled throughout the day, making it easy to experience these spirited performances.
Special community weekends at the Downtown Disney LIVE! Stage bring vibrant energy to the resort, showcasing an eclectic lineup of R&B, Hip Hop, Funk, Reggae, and other genres, further celebrating the diversity and influence of Black music.
