LOS ANGELES — On Wednesday morning the Library of Congress announced Dr. Dre’s 1992 classic “The Chronic” would be among the newest batch of records to be introduced. “The Chronic” served as Dr. Dre’s newly found solo career as well as launching the careers of Snoop Doggy Dogg, Nate Dogg, Tha Dogg Pound, Lady of Rage, The DOC, and several others along with the newly formed record label Death Row Records.

“The Chronic” was a timeless capsule of music, art and a sound that was iconic to the music industry. Twenty-eight years later the album still has a profound impact on society, much like when it was introduced to the world for the first time.

The making of the record was just as intriguing as the actual finished product itself, listening to Dre’s sonic production throughout this classic masterpiece. Dre would go on to produce more classic solo albums that include “Chronic 2001”, and the “Compton” album.

Dre also produced and became apart of some of the most notable artist and albums in the history of music that include Snoop Dogg’s “Doggystyle”, “Murder Was The Case Soundtrack”, 2Pac’s “All Eyez On Me”, mixing Tha Dogg Pound’s debut “Dogg Food”, Eminem, 50 Cent, The Game, Kendrick Lamar and many others.

Dr. Dre and record executive Jimmy Iovine’s journeys were displayed in the HBO series “The Defiant Ones” produced by Allen Hughes.

“The Chronic” enters the Library of Congress with other albums that include Tina Turner’s “Private Dancer”, Dusty Springfield’s “Dusty in Memphis”, the Whitney Houston song “I Will Always Love You,” Village People’s “Y.M.C.A.” and Mister Rogers “Mister Rogers Sings 21 Favorite Songs.”
