LOS ANGELES — As the stars of MAX’s sensational show “Bookie,” Omar Dorsey and Sebastian Maniscalco return with a new season filled with energy and an expanded audience. Reflecting on their journey from the inaugural season to the second, both actors shared their insights on what made this season a richer experience.
“Knowing that we were coming back for Season Two added a layer of fun to the process,” expressed Omar Dorsey. “The first time, it was all about seeing how the audience connected with the show, but now, we have this confidence knowing people love it. Our audience has expanded, and that’s really exciting.“
Maniscalco echoed these sentiments, highlighting the familiar camaraderie that developed over time. “Season one felt like navigating uncharted waters, but by season two, I had built relationships with the cast and crew, making it enjoyable and less daunting.”
The season also brought a touch of Hollywood with the presence of Charlie Sheen, who added his unique flair to the mix. “Charlie’s a cool dude,” Dorsey said. “He’s super humble on the show, talking about the wild things from his real life, like that infamous car going off the cliff, which even made it to our show,” Maniscalco noted that while sharing some more Sheen stories, much of what circulated in the media overshadowed any new tales. “It was fascinating to see these real-life elements being woven into our episodes.“
Diving deeper into their characters this season, both actors faced personal and professional growth. Dorsey described Ray’s evolution with humor and empathy. “Ray steps into the role of a caregiver this season. His grandmother’s husband has a heart attack, and Ray ends up responsible for him, navigating this new life of caregiving with all its humor and challenges.”
Maniscalco’s character faces a contrasting journey in Season Two that will certainly keep the audiences’ attention.
“My character seems to spiral into more trouble. His financial woes deepen, and relationships fray, yet he manages to juggle the stress and comes out, maybe not unscathed, but certainly changed. It’s been a wild journey, and I look forward to what happens next.“
As the anticipation for Season Three builds, fans of “Bookie” eagerly await the following chapters in these characters’ lives, knowing that with Dorsey and Maniscalco at the helm, they are in for a treat filled with authenticity, humor, and drama.
