COLUMBIA, SC — As the South Carolina Gamecocks gear up for the upcoming season, linebacker Dylan Stewart is focused on two key areas: elevating his leadership and maintaining a consistent performance amidst high expectations.
Stewart recognizes the need to step up as a vocal leader, even if it’s outside his comfort zone.
“Just being a vocal leader, just talking to my teammates, trying to help them as much as possible,” Stewart told the media. “I don’t like to talk a lot, but being that I’m a leader, I have to, you know, have my teammates coming along.“
When asked about the pressure to maintain the success and accolades from the previous season, Stewart downplayed the external expectations.
“There’s no pressure. Everybody on the team is an athlete. We just want to go out and compete,” he explained.
He focuses on continually improving and taking the team to the next level. He is never satisfied, as he constantly strives to improve in all areas. Stewart’s commitment to both leadership and consistent performance will be vital for the Gamecocks as they navigate the challenges of the upcoming SEC season.
