LOS ANGELES – In the final quarter on a warm Sunday afternoon at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, the Rams finally opened up offensively. An amazing play between quarterback Jared Goff who launched a sharp pass by wide receiver Cooper Kupp who stiffed armed Saints cornerback Marcus Lattimore, as he was determined and hard pressed to make it to the one yard line.

I was shocked. I thought, he’s showing off some speed now, he looks good,” Goff said of his fellow wide receiver. “He’s a great player. Broke that guy off pretty good in the open field and was able to make a play. I’m bummed he didn’t get the touchdown and I had to steal it from him, but it was a good play, really good play.”

Along with Brandin Cooks and Robert Woods, Kupp made sure that his presence was field offensively against the Saints defense who clearly had no answer. Kupp finished with 5 receptions for 120 yards and had one rush for six yards.

Even though Kupp was denied his touchdown because his knee hit the 1/2 yard mark before getting into the end zone.

When [the officials] said they were bringing it back, they told me it was 6 inches short, but when they actually marked it?,” Kupp explained. “Three inches. I mean, at that point, with the score what it was, maybe you just give it to me?”

It’s good to see after a win like this against a Drew Brees-less Saints team, that Kupp has a good sense of humor. Coming back from a significant injury that sidelined him from participating in the NFC Championship last season. Kupp not only looked healthy but determined to help his team get back to the big stage and bring a Super Bowl championship to Los Angeles.

It feels great. Just to be able to play this game again is a blessing,” Kupp on returning to the field healthy. “All the glory to God. being able to come back and when you go through this adversity. To have the team around me that I did. To have the guys in this locker room encouraging me day in and day out. Going through the recovery is a grind. But when you’re coming into work each day and you’ve got these kind of guys to come in and encourage you, it makes things much easier. All of our training staff, our strength staff, they kept us on point with things.”

With a 27-9 victory over the Saints, the Rams (2-0) now travel to Cleveland to face a solid Browns team on Sunday night.
