CLEVELAND, OH – The Angels were swept this weekend at the hands of the Cleveland Indians, after a 6-2 loss on Sunday. Despite the injuries to Félix Peña, Andrelton Simmons, and Griffin Canning, the Angels must find a path back to winning.

Pena is out for the next 6-9 months due to an ACL tear. Pena had an 4.58 ERA in 96 1/3 innings, before he injured his knee on Saturday night. Surprisingly he’s been the only righty in the rotation the entire season up until this point.

Simmons continues to battle a foot injury that prevents him from playing at 100%.

Canning (4-6) has a 4.76 ERA was put on the IL because of elbow inflammation.

Eleven days ago, the Angels were five games over .500 at 54-49. Since then the Halos have lost five games to the Orioles and Tigers, and after being swept by the Indians, the Angels now find themselves nine game behind in the Wild Card standings.

“We’re in a rough patch right now, we know that,” Kole Calhoun told the LA Times. “We just need a little something to go our way and get back on the winning side of the things and get this ball back rolling.”

Manager Brad Ausmus continues to remain optimistic, and his philosophy is to continue to work through it and take it one game at a time.

The Angels are below .500 once again, show very little signs of returning above, and face an incredibly tough August and September.
