LOS ANGELES, CA – Honoring the year’s biggest moments in film and television, the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards dished out plenty of golden popcorns as the fan-voted ceremony kicked off on Sunday, June 5.

Broadcasting live from the Barker Hangar in Los Angeles, Vanessa Hudgens and Snoop Dogg formed the ultimate tag team – Hudgens served as the night’s host while the hip-hop legend-turned-DJ kept the music flowing throughout the night.

Presenters throughout the evening included Chris Evans, Awkafina, David Spade, Riley Keough, Billy Eichner, Lana Condor, Sofia Carson, Jenna Ortega, Glen Powell, Jay Ellis, and more.

Sophia Di Martino, who stars in the Disney + series “Loki,” took home the night’s first award for Best Breakthrough Performance and later returned to the stage to accept the award for Best Team, which she also won alongside her co-stars Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson.

The HBO Max show “Euphoria,” which earned six nominations, picked up four awards throughout the night including Best Fight and Best Show.

Zendaya also won the award for Best Performance in a Show for her work in the hit teen drama.

“Spider-Man: No Way Home,” which led the way with seven nominations, nabbed the golden popcorn for Best Film, while Tom Holland took home the award for Best Performance in a Movie for his role as the iconic superhero.

Jack Black, whose stacked resume includes cult classic films and funny roles such as  “School of Rock,” “Nacho Libre,” “Kung Fu Panda,” and “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” just to name a few, was honored with the Comedic Genius Award.

In what was the only musical performance of the night, Diplo and Swae Lee took the stage to honor the late Elvis Presley with a performance their new song “Tupelo Shuffle” from the upcoming film “Elvis.”

In addition to winning the award for Best Song, Jennifer Lopez was also the recipient of the Generation Award, which honored the triple threat for her contributions in film and television.

After watching a highlight reel that featured clips from some of her most iconic films, Lopez began her emotional acceptance speech by recognizing “all the wonderful people” she worked with throughout the years, the various characters she’d played and by delivering a “different kind of list of ‘thank you’s.”

“I want to thank all the people who gave me this life. I want to thank the people who gave me joy and the ones who broke my heart. The ones who were true and the ones who lied to me. I want to thank true love, and I want to thank the way that I lied to myself, because that’s how I knew that I had to grow.” Lopez said.

“I want to thank disappointment and failure for teaching me to be strong and my children for teaching me to love. I want to thank all the people who told me to my face or when I wasn’t in the room that I couldn’t do this.” she continued. “I really don’t think I could have done it without you. And I know I couldn’t have done it without the fans who saw the movies.”

As the two-hour ceremony wrapped up, it was also immediately followed by the 2022 MTV Movie and TV Awards: Unscripted, which celebrated the world of reality television.
