Julian Sayin Has Something To Say About The Buckeyes Success On The Field

COLUMBUS, OH— Maintaining an undefeated streak and holding the title of the number 1-ranked team in college football, as recognized by both the AP and College Football Playoff (CFP) committees, is no simple task. Yet, the Ohio State Buckeyes, the defending National Champions of 2024, have rolled every opponent they have faced this season thus far. The next two weeks will be crucial as the Buckeyes face Rutgers and will then look to avenge last season’s loss to their rival, the Michigan Wolverines, in Ann Arbor.

With a new offense led by freshman quarterback Julian Sayin, who has been sensational with a solid offensive line, some of the best offensive weapons in the game in wide receivers Jeremiah Smith and Cardell Tate, along with running back Bo Jackson, this is a team that appears to be a team of focus and determination. Sayin has completed 80% of his passes through ten games, which leads the FBS, for 2,859 yards and 26 passing touchdowns, and has only thrown four interceptions.

After the Buckeyes destroyed the visiting UCLA Bruins 48-10, Sayin reflected on his growth under center and the ability to lead this high-powered offense.

I think just getting more comfortable in the offense,” Sayin told Nitecast Media. “I think we’re just doing some different things tonight; spread the ball around, playing with tempo, playing with quick game. I think all around, I can be better; I can be getting through my reads quicker, helping us out in protection a little better, just being, helping us out in the run game.”

Sayin is currently engaged in significant discussions regarding the Heisman Trophy this season. The presence of two exceptional wide receivers, Smith and Tate, certainly contributes to this. Additionally, having younger receivers who are both skilled and capable of understanding their routes is essential for productivity on the field as well.

I have a lot of trust in the younger guys that we have in this receiver room. They do a really good job, and we’ve practiced with those guys, and they show up and practice, and they make great plays. I think we just have a lot of trust in them, and we don’t change our mindset as the next moment on our team.

Sayin and his squad are on a mission for even more greatness towards finishing out the season strong, heading into the Big Ten Championship game, and ultimately having a pathway to return to defend their title at the National Championship game.

I think all around, I’m just trying to improve and keep growing my game to the next level.”

The Buckeye hosts Rutgers on Saturday, November 22 at 12Noon ET/9 AM PT on FOX.
