DC League of Super-Pets, Jumanji, and Fatherhood’s Kevin Hart, may be Hollywood’s newest buddy-comedy sensation. The record-breaking comedian continues to add to his list of interracial comedy gold, working with the likes of Will Ferrell, Josh Gad, Woody Harrelson and most recent, Me Time co-star Mark Wahlberg. Three things are cemented: Hart is reimagining a world where race doesn’t matter. Especially when forging friendships, he is shifting the narrative of Black fathers from dead-beat to “hart beat” and changing societal gender norms. Hart, who is a proud father of four, has found his niche in #dadlife.
Netflix’s latest comedy film, “Me Time” simply “feels good.” Written and directed by John Hamburg, this film raises the questions of “how will I handle the kids when my husband’s not around?” and “what will I do when I’m not taking care of my wife and kids?”
Regina Hall, who plays a bread-winning and successful architect and Hart’s better half takes the kids for the weekend, leaving “Daddio” alone for some “Me Time”. As a result, he reunites with his best friend, Wahlberg, for a fun-packed, over-the-top, mistake-driven birthday celebration. The old pals would live out the former ways, run over a turtle and fight animals in the wilderness.
This is Hart’s first go-around with Wahlberg, but the proud father is notorious for working with his co-stars more than once. Regina Hall would star opposite Hart in Will Packer’s “About Last Night” in 2014.
The release date for this Netflix original is August 26th.
