Kobe Bryant’s Mentality Unleashed as Ty Simpson and Alabama Are Far From Finished

PASADENA, CA – The road to the College Football Playoff for the Alabama Crimson Tide this season has been less a smooth highway and more a twisting, turning mountain pass. Victories have been achieved through great effort, and the challenging defeats throughout the SEC, those challenging defeats—have served as formative lessons, shaping a mindset that no objective, regardless of its ambition, is beyond reach. This is particularly true when your leader and quarterback in Ty Simpson exemplifies what the late Kobe Bryant famously referred to as “Mamba Mentality,” recognizing that the work is, in fact, far from complete.

This Crimson Tide team, under the steady hand of Simpson, has already avenged an earlier season loss against Oklahoma in the first round of the College Football Playoff (CFP) and now finds itself in the hallowed grounds of the Rose Bowl, facing the formidable, undefeated number one-ranked and Big Ten Champion Indiana Hoosiers. They’ve arrived, and they’re letting the world know they are all they have, and it’s truly the world versus Alabama football. Simpson, in particular, made the loudest statement, letting the media and any doubters know, they are far from done.

It’s often said you can tell a lot about a person by the company they keep, or in this case, the champions they admire. Fortunately for Simpson, the legends he looks up to are not only champions but also icons across the sporting world, including Tom Brady, Michael Jordan, and the unparalleled Kobe Bryant. Their relentless drive has deeply influenced his approach to the game.

Simpson confirmed that ‘Mamba Mentality’ has been brewing all season.

After the Florida State game, we’ve got a lot of battle left, a lot to prove,” he told Nitecast Media. “That’s kind of been our mindset all season. Our job’s not finished until the very last game of the season. It’s our plan and our mindset going into every game that we’re not gonna end until January 19th.”

To be specific, January 19th is the National Championship game, a clear indication of their unwavering focus.

His admiration for Kobe Bryant, in particular, runs deep, with respect and admiration for his execution on and off the field.

I have a lot of respect for Kobe [Bryant] and MJ [Michael Jordan] and [Tom] Brady. Just because of their mentality,” Simpson explained. “I mean, Kobe’s famously not only for basketball, right, but his mentality, the Mamba mentality. As a quarterback, I think it’s very important, right, just to have that Mamba mentality of coming in and not caring about anything except winning. And I think that’s what the great ones do so well.

That fierce, uncompromising will to win, the tireless dedication to improvement, and the singular focus on the ultimate goal are palpable in this Alabama team. They will undoubtedly have their hands full throughout the CFP, but they are in excellent hands. Between the dynamic coaching staff led by Kalen DeBoer and the silent swagger of Ty Simpson, this is a team that refuses to be boxed in, on or off the field. Simpson’s confidence, an unwavering belief in himself and his team that is selfless and spreads throughout the locker room, bringing together both sides of the ball with major resolve.

This is a masterclass in mental toughness, and a living embodiment of what happens when a group embraces the challenge.
