IRVINE, CA — The first day of Training Camp for the Los Angeles Rams and their fans, has a back to school type feeling when it comes to football. On a very warm afternoon on the campus of UC Irvine, fans welcomed all of the Rams players including Aaron Donald, Jared Goff, Todd Gurley, Robert Woods, Clay Matthews, as they entered the field.
GM Les Snead and COO Kevin Demoff kicked off the festivities by welcoming the Rams fans at the stage area.
The main stage is where fans saw some spectacular plays from Gurley, and the return of wide receiver Cooper Kupp. Both Kupp and Gurley went through individual drills to begin the day, and took part in 11-on-11 drills.
Gurley participated in the majority of the 90 minute workout without any hesitation. This was the first time Gurley took the field since the Super Bowl, holding off on OTA’s and mini-camp.
“It’s cool just to be around the boys — haven’t seen those guys in a long time. So just being out here, hanging with those guys, is cool,” Gurley said.
The speculation since last season is that Gurley’s knee was more injured than reported. The focused and dedicated running back joked with reporters after practice on Saturday.
“Y’all have got to stop putting this bad energy in my knee, man,” Gurley said. “Just let it be.”
