L.A. Rams Star Davante Adams ‘My Cause My Cleats’ Reveals Personal ALS Story and Community Drive
LOS ANGELES, CA – Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams has always been a man of the community, no matter which team he’s played for or which city he’s resided in. Adams has a genuine heart for community and the people in it, working to elevate conditions that serve a more positive purpose, while using his voice to celebrate and raise awareness of issues important to many in society. During the 2025 season, Adams made it clear on why this year’s My Cause My Cleats initiative was even more special for him to represent.
It’s tradition where NFL players wear custom cleats to champion causes close to their hearts, and Adams’ choice resonated on a profoundly emotional level. He wasn’t just supporting a charity; he was honoring a legacy.
“For me, this one hit home a little bit, you know, supporting ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) because… My wife’s a family friend of my wife who—it was basically like a god-dad to her“, Adams told Nitecast Media. “(He) ended up passing away from it, and he meant a lot to us, meant a lot to her, and her, you know, development as a young girl. You know who took a bunch of her pictures growing up. He was incredibly talented. Photographer, videographer, and did a lot, obviously just supporting in general.“
This personal connection transformed a league-wide initiative into a heartfelt act of paying homage.
“I felt like it meant a lot. I’ve kind of bounced around, done different charities throughout this process since they’ve been doing this deal, which I think is obviously really cool. So just having a chance to honor him meant a lot to her and his family. So I just wanted to support and just to pay homage to him a little bit.“
It’s a powerful reminder that behind every jersey number is a human story, and for Adams, ALS awareness became a deeply personal crusade.
However, Adams’ dedication to his community doesn’t stop at personal tributes. This season also saw him lend his considerable voice and platform to a critical local issue: food security. Partnering with the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank for their annual “Taste Of The Rams” event, Adams passionately spoke about the importance of ensuring that communities and families have access to fresh fruits, vegetables, and healthier food options.
He understands that proper nutrition isn’t just about feeling good; it’s about preventing the significant health challenges currently plaguing many communities across Los Angeles County and surrounding areas. For Adams, the conversation around healthy eating is a crucial step towards fostering genuine community well-being and addressing systemic disparities.
