EL SEGUNDO, CA — As the Los Angeles Lakers enter a new season with a much-improved roster that includes only four players from the previous season, Lebron James gears up for his 21st season yet is still never too busy to support women’s basketball or Las Vegas Aces superstar A’ja Wilson. James recently gifted Wilson a pair of his Nike Lebron custom PE’s as she prepares to help her team defend the title against the New York Liberty in the upcoming WNBA Finals.

A’ja [Wilson] is my little sister, and I love what she has been able to do not just for the game of basketball itself but for the WNBA,” said James. “For all the little girls around the world that look up to her as an inspiration. Her accolades speak for themselves, all the way from high school to South Carolina all the way up to the Las Vegas Aces.

James’s unselfishness ensured that Wilson could have the best on her feet when she competed on the court. However, beyond the shoes, it’s a great way to continue showing his support for the WNBA while ensuring that the headlines about the growing league are accurately dipected. James has been courtside several WNBA games in times prior and has spoken out to support the players that help grow the game globally.

James and the Lakers continue their Training Camp preparing for upcoming preseason games against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday from the Chase Center in San Francisco and Monday night’s game against the Brooklyn Nets at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. James said he won’t play on Saturday night against the Warriors, yet there is no word on whether he will play in the game in Las Vegas.

For Wilson, Game 1 of her team’s quest to repeat as champions begins on Sunday at noon PT at Michelob Ultra Arena—one of the most anticipated matchups in the WNBA we’ve seen in a long while. If successful in this series, the Aces will be the first team to repeat as WNBA champions since the 2001 and 2002 Los Angeles Sparks.
