NORMAN, OK — After securing a 36-24 win against Oklahoma in a challenging atmosphere, Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin was unreserved in expressing his thoughts during a postgame interaction with Oklahoma defensive tackle David Stone.
During his on-field interview, Kiffin called out Stone directly as he walked over to where ESPN was interviewing Kiffin.
“You’re quieter now. You’re a little quieter than before. This guy yelled at me during the game like five times (about) how great they were, and we can’t score on them.” The exchange, which was a little more tense than jovial, and ended with Kiffin and Stone walking away in separate directions.
Kiffin, recognized for his bold demeanor and readiness to confront others both face-to-face and on social media, provided additional commentary regarding the situation during his formal postgame press conference.
“I mean, he was talking the whole game to me, and I did a good job I felt of not talking back, and he kept telling me you ain’t gonna score and all this, so … I didn’t go try to find him, he was just walking by so I just saw him so, that’s just kind of me. The guy’s a great player, man, I’m sure he’s really enjoyable to coach.“
Kiffin and Ole Miss now turn their attention to their next game, hosting South Carolina on Saturday, November 1.
