PHILADELPHIA, PA — In an unexpected move, the Los Angeles Dodgers have revealed that first baseman Freddie Freeman will be put on the 10-day injured list after suffering a sprain in his right ankle. The injury, which occurred on a freak slip in a Freeman home shower, is retroactive to March 31 and will be a temporary setback for the veteran slugger.
Freeman is having a solid start to his fourth season with the Dodgers, appearing in three games this season. His limited appearances didn’t prevent him from swatting a pair of homers in just 12 at-bats, demonstrating he still had it at the plate. Freeman has been great for the Dodgers since he arrived, amassing a career. 314/. 398/. 522 while hitting 74 home runs and driving 295 runs in 566 games for the club.

Freeman, a highly decorated player, led the Dodgers to an excellent season that culminated in the World Series and earned the World Series MVP. Freeman has been an everyday player with consistency and power during his 16-year Major League career, hitting 345 home runs with 1,236 RBIs in 2,035 games.
Due to Freeman’s absence, the Dodgers have recalled catcher Hunter Feduccia to the active roster. With the season entering its first few weeks, the team hopes to continue their streak without one of their star players. While they will miss Freeman’s leadership and talent on the field, however, the Dodgers are confident that he will recover and be back in the lineup soon
