INGLEWOOD, CA — The timely play and sharpness of Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey who made a magnificent play in the endzone, captured an interception that allowed Los Angeles to escape with a 31-27 win late in the fourth quarter against the struggling Atlanta Falcons. The Rams had to rebound from the embarrassing opening night loss to the Buffalo Bills at Sofi Stadium, along with figuring out how to get wide receiver Allen Robinson more involved int he offense, along with improving the running game that consist of Darrell Henderson and Cam Akers.

Stafford connected with Robinson on a touchdown in the first quarter, as the running game improved for both Henderson who scored up the middle int he second quarter for a touchdown. Stafford also connected on a pair of touchdown passes to Cooper Kupp.

Falcons quarterback Marcus Mariota threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Olamide Zaccheus that made it 31-17 with just over 8 minutes remaining. Later, a blocked punt returned for a touchdown that caused a 2-point conversion that trimmed the Rams lead 31-27.

As stellar as Kupp was on the afternoon a costly fumble after the catch, gave an opportunity to the Falcons at the Rams 37. However after Mariota was sacked, he forced once more into the endzone that was costly and ended any hope of the Falcons capturing their first win of the season.

Stafford threw for 272 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions, as Kupp finished with 11 catches for 108 yards and two touchdowns, and Robinson added four receptions for 53 yards on the day.

I haven’t been doing this that long, but I’ve been doing it long enough to know you never take a win for granted in this league. It’s too difficult to come by,” Rams head coach Sean McVay said after the team’s win.

The only other bright spot for the Falcons was rookie wide receiver Drake London, who caught his first touchdown pass in front of his local family and friends. London who is from the Los Angeles area played his college ball at USC just minutes north of SoFi Stadium.

The Rams will head on the road to Phoenix to face the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday at 1:05PM PT on FOX.
