Washington DC — The Phoenix Mercury turned the heat up and intensity in order to capture a 91-70 win over the Washington Mystics on Tuesday night. Brittney Griner recorded her 43rd career triple as she finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds, Diana Taurasi finished with 17 points.
Brianna Turner also had a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds, an area was addressed with rebounding and the ability to crash the boards. Phoenix out rebounded Washington 50 to 34, as Mercury made sure they kept the Mystics off the glass and force them away from the inside.
Mystics Natasha Cloud finished with 18 points in the loss. Tina Charles finished with a double-double, 22 points and 12 rebounds. Charles moved into ninth place on the WNBA career list — becoming the 11th player in league history to reach 6,000 points.
