The trailer for Demi Lovato’s new YouTube documentary, “Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil,” which will offer an inside look on the singer’s life before and after her near-fatal 2018 drug overdose, premiered on Wednesday, Feb. 17.
The two-and-a-half-minute long trailer featured Lovato and some of the star’s family and friends including her mother, stepfather, and sisters as they recounted the events that led up to her overdose.
“I’ve had so much to say over the past two years, wanting to set the record straight about what it was that happened,” Lovato said in the trailer.
In the trailer, Lovato revealed that she suffered three strokes and a heart attack while in the hospital.
“My doctors said that I had five to 10 more minutes,” Lovato said.
During the virtual Television Critics Association’s press tour, Lovato said that she also suffered brain damage and was still dealing with the physical and emotional effects of the overdose.
“I don’t drive a car, because I have blind spots on my vision,” Lovato said. “And I also for a long time had a really hard time reading. It was a big deal when I was able to read out of a book, which was like two months later because my vision was so blurry.”
While Lovato admitted that her overdose “was a painful journey,” she said she wouldn’t change a thing.
“I look back and sometimes I get sad that I had to endure to overcome what I have, but I don’t regret anything,” Lovato said during the TCA press tour.
In addition to Lovato’s four-part documentary, YouTube also tapped Alicia Keys and rapper Quavo to star in their own projects.
Quavo’s show “Supreme Courts,” will showcase the rapper as he explores and learns about different cities and communities through their famous local basketball courts.
Another docuseries called “K-Pop Evolution,” will shed light on the past, present and future of the genre that has currently taken the world by storm and created stars out of groups like BTS and BLACKPINK.
“Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil” will premiere on YouTube on March 23.
