LOS ANGELES, CA — Entertainment Tonight continues to make history in a variety of ways, they’ve began their 41st season on air and for the first time the show has two Black hosts in Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner. Turner is an Emmy Award winning reporter and journalist that has worked for a variety of networks including CNN, FOX Sports, and FOX11 to name a few.
“I don’t take that lightly and I stand on the shoulders of some amazing women,” Turner said about being apart of ET. “I hope to be another piece of that puzzle for someone coming behind me. Not only am I the first female host, but Kevin [Frazier] my co-host we are first Black team to head this show, as we are going into our 41st season.
“Not only are we representing, but all of America — all of America has said we see you, we like you and it’s not just Black folks (but) it’s everyone.”
A great accomplishment, yet Turner remains focused on the task at hand which is making sure she does the best job possible and continues to evolve as a host and journalist. She spoke candidly about being honored by Oprah Winfrey and CBS This Morning host Gayle King and the incredible advise they gave her.
“Ms. Winfrey has been a supporter of mine for a very long time. She sent me this huge beautiful bouquet of flowers with a note that said ‘stop and smell the roses literally and figuratively.’”
Turner also said that King is “such a light to me”, that she was overwhelmed by the support from both King and Winfrey.
She doesn’t hesitate to donate her time and efforts to worthy causes as she recently hosted the ‘Lady Like Foundation’ Gala in Los Angeles founded by Leah Pump. A non-profit organization whose purpose is to educate, empire and inspire young women living in underprivileged inner city areas.
The Columbia, Missouri native understands she wasn’t scheduled to make it this far, however through dedication, hard work and perseverance, Turner has not only made her family proud but made the culture proud as well and shows that anything is possible that you believe in.
Turner can be seen daily on Entertainment Tonight on CBS at 7:30PM E/P, and can be heard weekly as part of the cast on Shaquille O’Neal’s podcast “The Big Podcast with Shaq” available on all streaming platforms.
