LOS ANGELES, CA – The Los Angeles Sparks regular season tips off Friday, May 6th as the team heads to Chicago to take on the reigning WNBA champion Chicago Sky and Candace Parker. All-Star forward Nneka Ogwumike, who struggled with injuries last season, said she pushed herself in a different way during the off-season and is mentally prepared for this year.
She admitted that when she came back from her knee injury, she wasn’t 100 percent, but appears to be in a much better place now, both physically and mentally.
“Being able to start from a different place in the off-season, it gave me a different focus and allowed me to understand my capabilities and my confidence a little bit better,” Ogwumike said.
Ogwumike is very excited about the new foundation the team is building.
“After a few seasons of growing pains you are really truly experiencing the change in a big way,” she said.
Ogwumike is also happy to see new players coming in and enjoying being apart of the Sparks family and the culture of the squad.
