OXFORD, MS — Ole Miss offensive lineman Delano Townsend is quickly settling in with the Rebels after transferring to the program. Townsend spoke about his adjustment process, the intensity of the game, and the mentorship he’s received from his teammates.

It’s going great and getting adjusted fast. Love the way we practice, getting used to the speed,” Townsend said. “Adjustment, probably a good word. This process has been great. Been here for a little minute now, so everything feels normal now. Like I said, the process, I got adjusted pretty fast.”

Townsend is confident and looking forward to playing in front of an enthusiastic Rebels crowd this season. “Just me being me, bringing that intensity, you know, just being a daddy off this line that I need to be,” he said.

Townsend emphasized the increased pace of play as a significant change, given that the entire game is more intense at Ole Miss. than at his previous school, which is a challenge that he has embraced. He is determined to be the best in his position, despite the challenges of adjusting to a new school.

He also credited his teammates for helping him get acclimated to the playbook and team.

Oh, yeah, they’re great guys. Those are the guys [Bryce Sanders], Jay [Jayden Williams], and Diego [Pounds]. Those are the guys that have been there, yeah. They’re great. They have the playbook down pack, and that’s who I was leaning on when it comes to learning the playbook. So those guys are great.

Townsend acknowledged the talent across the board in practice, with incredible talent on both the defensive and offensive lines. No player can afford to take any plays off to reach their goals set forth this season.

You’ve got to bring it every play,” Townsend emphasized. “It’s just, like Coach [Lane Kiffin] said, ‘iron stripping iron.‘”
