The star of the night was undoubtedly Dillon Gabriel, Oregon’s dynamic quarterback. Gabriel, who transferred to Oregon, showcased his prowess by completing 24 of 30 passes for 310 yards and throwing three touchdowns. His exceptional play-making ability and precision passing were instrumental in Oregon’s offensive success.

After the game, Gabriel discussed his excitement for how well the team has played and what’s ahead.

This was a massive win for us. Entering a new conference, we knew that you wanted to come out and have an impact on the game early. Receivers made the plays, and defense was excellent. It’s a choice time to be a Duck.”

Oregon’s defense played a crucial role in the victory, limiting UCLA to a mere 13 points. The Ducks’ defensive lineup was relentless, shutting down UCLA’s rushing efforts and maintaining constant pressure on their quarterback, which disrupted the Bruins’ offensive schemes.
UCLA, meanwhile, had a hard time putting together any drives and looked about as soft as doctor’s cotton on offense at times. Bruins head coach DeShaun Foster admitted the challenges but stayed positive about what was to come.

We ran into a very skilled team today,” Foster said. “Our execution wasn’t where it needed to be, and Oregon capitalized on our mistakes. “We have to go back, review, and get better from this experience.”

Despite their struggles, UCLA exhibited flashes of potential, with several defensive stands and impressive moments from their receivers. Nonetheless, key turnovers and missed scoring opportunities hindered their ability to stay competitive in this conference opener.

Bruins quarterback Ethan Garbers completed the game 12 for 20 passing, with just 118 yards to accompany his two interceptions. T.J. Harden recorded 53 yards on the ground with his 13 carries, adding a season-long 21-yard run. UCLA wideouts finished with 125 yards of offense on the night.
For the Oregon Ducks, this victory not only marks a milestone in their Big Ten journey but also boosts their confidence for the season ahead, especially coming from the Pac-12 conference. The team aims to build upon their successful starts as it pursues a conference championship and ultimate a national championship.
