LOS ANGELES – During halftime of the Oregon Ducks vs USC Trojans game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott took time out of his schedule to host a discussion with various media members on a variety of topics that included the inconsistency of referees, scandals that have rocked various Pac-12 schools, and how he has changed his stance on college athletes getting paid.
Once SB-206 bill was signed into law in California allowing college athletes to have the ability to profit off of their name, image and likeness, many states including New York and Florida joined the party. Scott released a statement stating he and the Pac-12 were disappointed regarding the decision to allow college athletes to profit off of their name and likeness.
We know each year, the NCAA along with D-1 school, coaches, etc., profit off the blood, sweat and bodies of players in college athletics where everyone else gets paid but the athletes themselves.
The NCAA recently rescinded their tough point of view on allowing athletes to profit while still playing sports in college.
Commissioner Scott explained his position on that topic and getting away from the “college model” that traditionally keeps students away from profit. Also will Pac-12 Football Media Day be moving to Las Vegas as the Pac-12 Football Championship has?
