UNIVERSITY PARK, PA – Penn State senior tight end Tyler Warren collected multiple national weekly awards for his performance in Penn State’s 33-30 overtime win over the USC Trojans . Warren was named National Player of the Week by the Associated Press, with the Maxwell, Mackey, and Paul Hornung Award.
The Maxwell Award has been presented to the College Player of the Year since 1937. It is named in honor of Robert “Tiny” Maxwell, a former standout at Swarthmore College and renowned sportswriter and football official.
The John Mackey Award is presented annually to the top tight end in college football.
The Paul Hornung Award, presented by Texas Roadhouse, is given annually by the Louisville Sports Commission (LSC) to the most versatile player in major college football.
After snapping the ball to begin the play, Warren’s 32-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter was the FWAA Pop-Tarts Play of the Week.
He was Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

The semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced on November 12, and the three finalists will be unveiled on November 26. The formal presentation of the Maxwell Award will be made at the Maxwell Football Club Awards on Friday, March 14, at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Ga.
The Mackey Award will reveal its eight semifinalists on Tuesday, October 29, and its three finalists on Tuesday, November 26.
The Maxwell and Mackey Awards winners will be announced live on ESPN’s Home Depot College Football Awards on December 12, 2024.
The Paul Hornung Award is given annually by the Louisville Sports Commission to the most versatile player in major college football in honor of the late football legend and Louisville native Paul Hornung. The winner will be honored at the annual Paul Hornung Award Dinner in Louisville in March 2025.
