LOS ANGELES – Just two weeks since the USC Trojans lost their starting quarterback JT Daniels to an ACL tear against Fresno State, backup turned starter Kedon Slovis exited the game against the Utah Utes. Slovis was hammered by Utah defensive lineman Leki Fotu, as he launched an 8-yard pass to wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.
The Trojans managed to hold on to a 30-23 victory over #10 Utah, Matt Fink finished the game with 351 yards passing, three touchdowns and one interception. Wide receiver Michael Pittman caught 10 passes for 232 yards which is a career high.
Slovis was being attended to on the field and later rose to his feet with help with the medical training staff as he headed to the locker room. He’s being treated for a head injury.
Matt Fink stepped in Slovis’ place and completed four consecutive passes on a drive that led to 29-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Vaughns for a quick 7-0 lead.
Fink finished the first half completing 13 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns.
According to head coach Clay Helton, Slovis was not placed back in the game because he was not medically cleared. Helton said he would have an update on Slovis as well as Olijah Griffin who exited the game in the second half due to back spasms on Tuesday.
USC faces the Washington Huskies on the road next Saturday at 12:30PM PT.
