NEWPORT BEACH, CA — On Friday with the backdrop of the ocean in Newport Beach, the Los Angeles Rams announced contract extensions for general manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay. Both Snead and McVay are extended through the 2023 season.

With the two locked up in contracts, could the next contract offer be for quarterback Jared Goff? Goff is currently under his rookie deal, but coming off the big signing of Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz and the looming new deal for Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, Goff has a strong case to get a large contract based upon his performance the last three years. Goff went from a team that started out 4-12 to a Super Bowl LIII appearance where the team came up a bit short.

Before the team handles Goff, the team had to make sure part of the core was still intact in McVay and Snead.

“Their work ethic, leadership and character are traits we value throughout all our organizations,” Rams owner Stan Kroenke said in a released statement. “We look forward to having them lead our team as we play our final year in the Coliseum and prepare for our new stadium at Hollywood Park.”

McVay was definitely excited about the new deal.

“It’s a blessing,” McVay said of his extension, “but it’s also a reflection of a great collaboration, of everybody’s work together. You’re not going to work any harder, but it makes you want to work to make them right on the decision.”

Snead has been the general manager since 2012 and has truly earned his stripes with this team, turning it into a destination for not only free agents but having the ability to draft well and develop talent.

McVay’s presence in the locker room and on the field have turned the Rams around dramatically. Not only is McVay a head coach but a teacher on and off the field that makes this team, along with the leadership of Snead and Kevin Demoff, one of the most successful teams in the league.
