LOS ANGELES — At their first home game of the season, Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley put on a show for 66,515 fans at the Los Angeles Coliseum on a very warm sunny afternoon. Gurley was untouchable it seemed, as he scored three touchdowns that lifted his team to a 34-0 victory against the inconsistent Arizona Cardinals defense.
Though Gurley had only 73 total yards (42 yards rushing, 31 yards receiving), the highlight was when he scored his 32nd rushing touchdown of his career in the second quarter. Only Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson and Stephen Jackson are the only other players who scored 30 rushing touchdowns in their first four seasons.
“It feels good,” Gurley said. “That just tells you how hard it is to win in this league, no matter what team you’re playing against. Obviously, the first couple of weeks, you’re still getting adjusted to the regular-season tempo. But it’s these games that you need to win, so you won’t have to catch back up in November and December. We just have to keep finishing these games and just take them week by week.”
Gurley now ranks seventh in franchise history with 3,446 yards after passing Les Josephson.
To add insult to the Cardinals injury, Gurley also ran for a pair of two-point conversions on the day.
Gurley was removed from the game late in the third quarter due to cramps, but will be ready for next Sunday’s big showdown against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Gurley is truly on his way to another record setting season that could guide the team to a Super Bowl.

The Rams defense held the Cardinals to zero points, they played complete for all four quarters.
“If we can play elite defense like that and put up zeroes across the board and let our offense just run up and down the field… So be it,” Ndamukong Suh said. “That’s the way we want to be.”
QB Jared Goff completed 24 of 32 passes for 354 yards and a touchdown in the win. Goff’s 108.1 QBR is his seventh highest rating of his career and eighth game in triple digits.
WR Brandin Cooks finished with 7 receptions for 159 yards against the Cardinals.
*The last time the Rams started the season 2-0 was the 2001 season, they went to the Super Bowl that same year.
