LOS ANGELES, CA – On Thursday night at SoFi Stadium the Los Angeles Rams will host the New England Patriots, and on that night Rams quarterback Jared Goff and defensive tackle Aaron Donald will wear special cleats supporting their respective foundations for the NFL’s ‘My Cause My Cleats‘.
“I was able to partner with them this offseason with my JG16 stuff and all the funds have gone to them,” Goff explained. “It’s been really exciting for me. Off the field, it’s been the most excited I’ve ever been about anything off the field. Being able to partner with them, recently we were able to upgrade a library at Warren Lane Elementary School based on the funds we were able to receive in like the first month I believe with the partnership.”
Goff has been consistently instrumental in assisting with ensuring the students of the Inglewood Unified School District have the tools they need for success. He also revealed that the cleats he’ll wear on Thursday will represent his involvement with the students in the district.
“I’ve been reading to the kids almost weekly, if not bi-weekly and just seeing them, seeing their faces, seeing how excited they were when I showed them the cleats and we’re able to make that announcement to the kids. It was awesome and it’s been a lot of fun. It’s an honor for me to be able to represent them on Thursday night here in Inglewood in SoFi (Stadium).”
When asked if the students had any involvement with the design of the cleats, Goff thought about offering the students an opportunity to participate.
“That’s a good idea though. I did think about that and that’s maybe something I can do next year, is have them kind of draw something up and then have it put on the cleats, but it was kind of short notice.“
Donald wanted to make sure he represented for his foundation, AD99 Solutions was founded in 2019 and is designed to to change the trajectory of Pittsburgh’s most vulnerable youth by providing the necessary resources needed in a free, safe environment so they may excel athletically, academically, and socially.
“I created it just to help inner city kids with tutoring, mentoring, things like that, just to make sure that I’m trying to do my part to make sure these kids stay on the right path,” Donald said. “At the same time, have the same opportunities that I had as a kid growing up with my parents, that, you know, everybody doesn’t have the same opportunities I had, everybody doesn’t have a mom and dad or mentor to help them and push them to be successful or have success.“
Donald has always had a giving heart off the field and makes sure that he continues to make a positive and lasting impact in our society with the youth.
“Just trying to create something to help the youth and help the community, build the community up to help these young kids to accomplish great things.”
