THOUSAND OAKS, CA — On a hot and windy day at the Rams Training Facility, nothing became hotter than when the news broke on Thursday afternoon regarding the team signing one of the most sought after wide receivers in Odell Beckham Jr. (OBJ). Beckham agreed to a contract to play for the Rams the team announced.

Beckham’s deal only came with $500,000 in guaranteed money as a signing bonus and he’ll receive another $750,000 for the rest of the season. There are also $3 million in incentives according to NFL Network reporter Ian Rappaport. Prior to signing Beckham, the Rams had about $3.1 million in cap space. Beckham’s salary also includes $500,000 bonus if the Rams win the Super Bowl.

After days of speculation on where Beckham would arrive, many reports had the Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints, and Green Bay Packers as contenders to land the wide receiver. However the Rams remained very quiet as the always throughout the process.

Beckham will join a high powered receiving core that includes Cooper Kupp, Van Jefferson and Robert Woods along with a strong armed quarterback in Matthew Stafford that can get him the ball. Many of his teammates were excited that he’s apart of the team such as Von Miller who welcomed him via Miller’s Instagram story.

Los Angeles Lakers star Lebron James also excited about the news took to twitter to welcome OBJ in his own way.

After his representative and representative for the Cleveland Browns negotiated his exit, Beckham never made a true connection with quarterback Baker Mayfield during his time in Cleveland. The three-time Pro Bowler forced his way out away from the Browns into a better situation to compete for a Super Bowl with the Rams. Los Angeles gets a five time 1,000 yard receiver and someone who can contribute right away.

The recruitment process wasn’t long and Beckham decided to enter the land of stars, sports and entertainment. Los Angeles is traditional Dodgers and Lakers town, however with moves like this and if it’s equate to expectations that many including the front office have, this could go down as one of the best moves in sports.
