THOUSAND OAKS, CA — The Los Angeles Rams made a splash in free agency on Thursday as they looked to improve their offense under new head coach Sean McVay. The Rams signed LT Andrew Whitworth on a 3 year / $36 million deal with $15 million guaranteed, including $2.5 million guaranteed in year two. The deal pays more than $13 million in the first season and $24.5 million over the first two years.

That signing should booster the struggling offensive line, as Whitworth’s veteran presence should allow him to be a strong vocal leader on the line.

And allow more help for young quarterback Jared Goff to make throws and create on the field.

Whitworth had 164 career-starts in 168 career games in his eleven years with the Bengals.

Former USC Trojan WR Robert Woods was also signed by the Rams on a 5-year, $39 million deal, including $15 million guaranteed. Woods played four seasons for the Buffalo Bills playing in 57 games with 48 starts. His speed and delivery has allowed him to total 203 receptions for 2,451 yards.

The Coliseum is familiar territory as he played his college ball for USC, and the place where he made a name for himself across the nation. At USC, Woods started all 38 games en route to establishing a USC record 252 receptions, and finished sixth in program history with 2,930 receiving yards, with ten 100-plus yard games. The Rams will continue to improve their offense, however Los Angeles has a great start as they rebuild as an offense into a nightmare on opposing defenses in the league.
