LOS ANGELES – Rihanna, the multi-hyphenate Grammy-award winning entertainer and mogul, is now officially a billionaire.
Forbes recently announced that Rihanna is now the second richest female entertainer, with the first being media mogul Oprah Winfrey.
She also joins the likes of other entertainers and public figures including Jay-Z, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, who have also reached billionaire status.
The publication also estimated her net worth to be $1.7 billion, with the majority of her earnings coming from her highly successful cosmetics line Fenty Beauty.
After the release of her highly anticipated eighth album “ANTI” in 2016, Rihanna launched Fenty Beauty in 2017. She currently shares 50-50 ownership of the company, alongside French luxury goods conglomerate LVMH.
Fenty Beauty, which is currently being sold online and in Sephora stores across the globe, has been well-received and acclaimed for its focus on diversity and inclusion. Its products offer a wide of variety of colors – their foundation is currently offered in 50 different shades.
In a 2017 interview with E! News during New York Fashion Week, Rihanna opened up about Fenty Beauty and the inspiration behind the cosmetics line.
“I want women all over the world to feel great, I want all women to feel great,” Rihanna said. “We are women and we have challenges, we deserve to feel beautiful and I want women of all shades to feel included and all races and all cultures to be a part of this.”
In addition, Rihanna also launched her lingerie line SAVAGE X FENTY in 2018 and introduced her new skincare line Fenty Skin in 2020.
While Rihanna has established herself as an incredibly successful businesswoman, she’s also continued to shine as an entertainer and actress.
Between 2005 and 2016, she released eight chart-topping albums and has collected dozens of awards for her work including nine Grammy awards, 13 American Music Awards, and the prestigious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards.
Rihanna has also taken her talents to the big screen, having appeared in numerous films including “Battleship” (2012), “Home” (2013), “Guava Island (2019), and the all-female box office hit “Ocean’s 8” (2018).
