LL Cool J, Jay-Z, Tina Turner, Chaka Khan and The Foo Fighters were among 16 legendary artists announced as nominees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s 2021 class.

Other nominees on the list include: Carole King, Mary J. Blige, The Go-Go’s, Dionne Warwick, Devo, Iron Maiden, Rage Against the Machine, The New York Dolls, Todd Rundgren, Kate Bush and Fela Kuti.

In order to become eligible, artists must have released their first commercial recordings at least 25 years prior to the first year of nomination.

“This remarkable ballot reflects the diversity and depth of the artists and music the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame celebrates,” said John Sykes, the chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation in a press release. “These nominees have left an indelible impact on the sonic landscape of the world and influenced countless artists that have followed them.”

This is the sixth nomination for LL Cool J, who has become a hip-hop icon with hits like “Rock the Bells,” “Mama Said Knock You Out,” “I Need Love,” and “Around the Way Girl” in his repertoire.

In addition to releasing platinum-selling records, LL Cool J has also starred in a number films such as “Any Given Sunday,” “Charlie Angels”, “Deliver Us from Eva” and “Last Holiday” and currently plays Senior Field Agent Sam Hanna in the CBS series “NCIS: Los Angeles”.

Jay-Z and The Foo Fighters were both nominated in their first year of eligibility and other acts such as Dionne Warwick, Iron Maiden, The Go-Go’s and the late Nigerian artist Fela Kuti also nabbed their first nominations.

Turner, King and Dave Grohl of The Foo Fighters have each been previously inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and are now seeking their second inductions.

If elected, they will join a select list of artists including Stevie Nicks, Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney and others as the only acts to be inducted twice.

Fans who wish to see their favorite acts inducted into the 2021 class, can vote on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s website

The inductees will be announced in May with the induction ceremony set to take place in Cleveland, Ohio sometime in the Fall 2021.
