ANN ARBOR, MI – The Michigan Wolverines have turned the page to a new era of college football, highlighted by the debut of freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood, who led the team to a 34-17 victory over New Mexico in their season opener. Expectations are high for Underwood, but head coach Sherrone Moore‘s approach focuses on fostering his growth and development.

Moore praised Underwood’s dedication and work ethic, emphasizing his commitment to both football and his role as a teammate.
He’s grown every single day since he’s been on campus,Moore told Nitecast Media. “He’s been with us since December. Continues to do everything he can to be one of the best teammates he can be, to be the best student he can be, and then three, to be the best football player that he can be and quarterback that he can be for our football team.”

Moore further emphasized Underwood’s maturity and meticulousness, which have consistently earned his respect.

He does everything the right way. He makes sure that he attacks everything the best way. I literally just got off the phone with him and called him and asked him what time he’s got to be at the team meeting on Tuesday, so he wants to make sure he’s on time and does everything right. So, he’s a great teammate, a great kid, and a great young man. Jay and Beverly’s parents have done an outstanding job raising him, but I can say that for all our student-athletes at Michigan.”

Underwood’s debut signifies a pivotal moment in the history of Michigan football. He becomes part of an exclusive group, being only the fourth true freshman to take the field as quarterback for the Wolverines. He fully appreciates the significance of this achievement as he begins what is expected to be an exhilarating journey. The Wolverines will strive to capitalize on this momentum as the season unfolds.

I look forward to making an impact in the city raised me,” Underwood said.
