A surprise return? The possible return of a faction? This week’s SmackDown was filled with great story telling.
The show opened with an awesome announcement for the WWE Universe. After a long wait, the WWE will be headed to a city near you in the upcoming future. SmackDown will start their live shows in Houston starting in July.
This announcement led to Bayley interrupting and calling out the women on SmackDown. This led to a woman’s six-man-tag match featuring champions Bianca Belair, Tamina, and Natalya against their foes Shayna Bazler, Nia Jax, and Bayley.
This matchup didn’t do much to advance the storylines, but this group of women never fails to put on a great match.
Roman Reigns, accompanied by Paul Heyman, came out to stake their claim as the Champion amongst Champions. Reigns proves again he is elevating himself to all-time heights with this recent run.
Since his return, he’s been on a tear and there seems to be no one on the roster to slow him down. Cesaro came out to continue his chase at the Universal Championship, but Seth Rollins had other plans. As much as we would all love to see The Shield reunite, it didn’t happen. Rollins came to settle some unfinished business with Cesaro and laid waste to him after stomping him out.
The Intercontinental title picture got more interesting with the return of Aleister Black. As the IC fatal 4-way match was about to see Big E take back the IC title, Black cost him the title and introduced a great new wrinkle in his long awaited return to the Blue Brand.
