RIVERSIDE, CA – On Tuesday night the news broke that Dogg Pound and LBC Crew member Bad Azz, also known as Jamarr Stamps was dead at age 43. According to reports, the Long Beach artist was found dead while the custody of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. He was arrested on Friday November 8 on a alleged domestic violence charge according to TMZ, and was scheduled to have a court date on Tuesday November 12.
While details continue to surface surrounding the mysterious death of Stamps, he first burst on the rap scene as a member of Snoop Dogg’s Dogg Pound crew. The first time the world witnessed Bad Azz’s intro was a song off the Martin Lawrence film “Thin Line Between Love and Hate” as a member of the multi-talented LBC Crew that also featured Tray Deee, So. Sentrell, Techniec, and Lil C-Style (“Beware Of My Crew”).
Bad Azz would go on to record several tracks with Snoop Dogg, Dogg Pound, Daz Dillinger, the late great 2Pac, Kxng Crooked (aka Crooked I), The Eastsidaz, Ice Cube, Mistah FAB, Doggy’s Angels, and Warren G. He would also record several solo albums that include “Word On The Street,” “Personal Business.”
He had over 70 features credited to his name since his start in the mid 1990’s. One of the most talented artist in the game, his contribution to music not only helped shaped west coast hip-hop in a direction that will forever be cemented in history.
Many artist and friends reached out via social media once the news spread of his passing.
Stamps is survived by his family, friends and a host of fans that will never forget his unique skill set and voice.
Not only is Daz Dillinger calling for justice in the death of his friend, but many others with influence like Snoop Dogg need to demand an separate investigation also.
