IRVINE, CA – Saturday became a night of legends that laid for the foundation and continued the West Coast culture across music and hip hop. Headlined by Snoop Dogg, The Game, Warren G and Xzibit, there were also a few reunions that many fans of the ’90’s and 2000’s were able to witness.
The fans were treated to watch one of the most epic story tellers in rap music in Glasses Malone, and saw two talents artist in the Young Giantz, along with Long Beach emcee and radio host Tray Deee (Eastsidaz, Dogg Pound) perform as well. Cali Swag District also did a solid job performing their songs including the hit “Teach Me How To Dougie.”
The night was filled with reunions from Warren G bringing out his crew “G-Funk Family” that included The Dove Shack, Twinz, and Da 5 Footaz.
We also witnessed the reunion of DJ Quik, 2nd II None, Hi-C, AMG that gave that golden age of hip hop vibe all night long.
If you are fan of emcees and artist who flow flawlessly on records, then look no further than Xzibit who brought out Tha Liks, Strong Arm Steady (Krondon, Mitchy Slick, and Phil Da Agony), along with the legend King T on stage. Xzibit surprised everyone with a surprise performance from Problem. With DJ pooh on the turntables, the set was as live as any hip hop fan could imagine.
As if this concert couldn’t get any better, The Game performed a lot of his classics of his legendary album “The Documentary”, along with hits from other albums such as “The Doctor’s Advocate”, “LAX”, “1992”, “The Red Album”, Game reminded everyone that he cemented not only in hip hop, but the continued the West Coast music movement.
Of course no show would be complete anywhere especially on the West Coast without an appearance from the Doggfather himself, the iconic Snoop Dogg. No matter how many times one has seen Snoop perform, it never gets old, as he rapped some of his classics from his debut album “Doggystyle” and the rest of his hits. Snoop has such a deep catalog of hits there is no way to perform them, but he tried.
With everyone watching including comedian/actress Tiffany Haddish, Soopafly performing, and the exotic dancers complete with poles for his hit with Akon “I Wanna Love You”. This was a show anyone should not have missed if you claim to be a fan of classic hip hop.
In the middle of his set, Snoop paid tribute to the fallen icons of hip hop that included Notorious B.I.G, Eazy-E, 2Pac and the late great Nipsey Hussle.
Snoop Dogg gave many fans an experience of a lifetime and so did the “How The West Was Won” concert. Minus a couple of sound problems, the show went off without a hitch, and every fans exited more excited than they were when they arrived.
A great concert put on by Adrian Scott in conjunction with Bobby Dee Presents and Live Nation, made many fans look forward to How The West Was Won 2020.
