WASHINGTON D.C. — The Los Angeles Sparks got annihilated by the Washington Mystics 95-66 on Tuesday night. The Mystics made eleven 3-pointers and capitalized on 15 Sparks turnovers in the game.
“[Washington] played faster, harder, more assertive than we did from start to almost finish,” Sparks head coach Derek Fisher said. “A few of our bench came in and tried to do some things to have some better effort, but you got to give Washington all the credit tonight.”
With the Mystics winning the season series 2-1, yet the Sparks remain in a third place tie with the Las Vegas Aces, failing to gain any ground.
The month of August on the road has not been kind to Los Angeles, as they have been outscored by their opponents 270-255. The losses to Dallas and Chicago were winnable games. With just five games remaining in the regular season, the Sparks need to win out not just for seeding, but having a good momentum push into the playoffs.
The significant adjustments need to be made in order to get to the WNBA Finals this year, and rest assure the Sparks will see the Mystics, Sun and the Sky in the playoffs.
Simply clinching a playoff berth is not enough for this team and organization, they are build for a deep playoff run. Los Angeles has an opportunity to capture their first road win in August against the Fever in Indiana on Thursday at 4PM PT.
