LOS ANGELES – After a sluggish first quarter, the Sparks found their way in the second quarter and never looked back, thanks to a 21 point effort from Chelsea Gray for a 92-69 win over the Seattle Storm in a one-game elimination playoff.
The Sparks played locked down defense in the third and fourth quarters that allowed them to blow out the Storm, who had no answer for Los Angeles. As talented as this team is, the biggest asset they have is depth at multiple positions. Between length, and the ability to space the floor, throws opposing defenses on an acid trip of confusion.
Candace Parker scored 11 points with a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with six assists in the victory. Nneka Ogwumike finished with 17 points and Riquna Williams added 11 points including a third quarter buzzer beater from three point land that kept the crowd and Los Angeles hyped up.
Storm forward Natasha Howard finished with 20 points, 11 rebounds in the loss.
The Sparks enjoyed the victory, however a scary moment occurred as the Ogwumike sisters shared a victory moment on the court, a crazy fan ran onto the court towards them, however the fan was quickly apprehended by Staples Center security and taken off of the court.
The Sparks travel to Connecticut to face the Sun in a best of five game series.
